The 'tree of life' represents commitments/promises made by the West that are already being fulfilled and making a difference in Africa. The silhouetted trees are symbolic of pledges yet to be kept. The trees are loosely based on some real trees in Scotland to give the 'tree of life' roots in reality rather than fantasy.
